The problem with all these t.v. tabloid shows is that they are now trying to emulate the editorialized news style of Fox News and MSNBC and the reverse is true as well so it is becoming one big daisy-chain-chat-off. The show The Insider has especially taken on this style by retooling the show as a panel discussion where four rotating hosts have to choose sides. “What side are you on?” they ask the camera directly before they go to commercial or come back from commercial or whenever they are told to.
The main problem is that it forces these people, whose greatest skills include reading off tele-prompters and looking good, to come up with opinions and to act like they mean it. Here is a clip of The Insider’s Samantha Harris weighing in on the the Tiger Wood’s fiasco. The first clip is from Tuesday when the story broke. The second part is from the very next day. Not only does she completely contradict herself in less than a 24 hour period, she seems so confident about both opinions. Also watch for the use of the same exact images of tiger in each segment.
I love how she has to consults her notes to get the 65% of marriages fact out. And how she thinks that taking your kids for “stroller walks” means that you are faithful and then later how insane she looks when she thinks she is delivering the ultimate zinger with “a tiger cannot change his stripes.” But what can you expect from a bubble head who left us with this unforgettable mumble on Dancing With The Stars. Host Tom Bergeron’s sarcastic clap for her at the end is well worth the price of admission.
Ha.
